Brewery Velké Popovice

We invite you to visit the Velkopopovice brewery, which has been standing close to Prague for more than 140 years. The first batch was brewed in the brewery founded by Prague industrialist Baron Ringhoffer in December 1874. Since 1999, the Velké Popovice brewery has been part of Plzeňský Prazdroj, a.s.

Brewery tour

Velké Popovice is always led by our guide. The tour starts in the Visitor Centre and continues through the picturesque brewery courtyard. You will visit the current brewhouse, where you will learn about the brewing process and the raw materials we use for our beer. You will learn about the rich history of the brewery and the story of the founding Ringhoffer family. You will walk through the historic brewhouse from 1928, the lager cellars, where you will taste unfiltered Velkopopovický Kozel beer on tap from a unique tap. You will see the bottling plant and barrels, as well as the exhibition of beer packaging, loading, shipping and export of our beer abroad. Finally, you will meet Olda the live goat, the mascot of our brewery. At the end of your visit, do not miss the Goat Shop, located in the Visitor Centre. Here you can choose a gift for yourself or for your loved ones.
